Braassemermeer route

Catching fish, like bream (Braassem) once was the only thing people did on the Braassemermeer. That’s all different now. On Summer days it’s crowded with surfers, sailors, canoeists and other water recreationists. Along the shores are marinas, mooring places and catering have appeared. De route will take you through a varied landscape of ancient peat polders, reclaimed land, lakes and horticultural enclaves. Most farmers are dairy farmers as the land is too soggy for agriculture.
