For this walking tour, we’ve mapped out a route for you. You can start your route at any node number. No less than 14 mills can be discovered during this 17 kilometers long route.

Not all mills are directly along the route, so have a good look around.

Mills, water and more

This gorgeous route along mills, water, sights and activities, will take you through Roelofarendsveen, Nieuwe Wetering, and Rijpwetering in the municipality of Kaag & Braassem. You will pass 14 mills and waters like the Wijde Aa, Braassemermeer, the Wetering, the Ringvaart, de Hanepoel and the Kleipoel. Scattered around this route, there are several pubs and restaurants where you can stop for coffee, lunch or more. Other sights like cheese farms and a watchtower can be found on this route too.

Note: this route is partially unpaved and occasionally you may have to climb over a fence.

Visit a mill

Millers are very proud of their mill and are happy to tell you more about the mill and their profession. When you see a windmill whose blades are rotating, the miller is at work. Many of the millers are working voluntarily, and therefore are not always present at the mill. A few of the mills also have information boards. We whish you lot’s of walking and mill fun.
