Cycling Route along the Mills around Kaag & Braassem
The polders around Kagerplassen and Braassemermeer belong to the Utrecht-Hollands peat-meadows area. Though the lots look very different here than anywhere else in the area.
Warmond Kaag Braassem Route
This Sloepennetwerk (Sloop Network) route will take you from the Kagerplassen to the Does and the Braassemermeer, via the Wetering and Ringvaart back to the Kagerplassen.
Braassemermeer route
De route will take you through a varied landscape of ancient peat polders, reclaimed land, lakes and horticultural enclaves.
Polder Path
Short walk where you can discover the various sides of Hoogmade: The polder landscape, the A4, the water and various restaurants. Highly recommended on a sunny day!
Family Pathway Kaag
The Family Pathway Kaag is a 5 km long pathway through Buitenkaag and the picturesque Kaag Island. It will take you along the 20 most beautiful spots in the surroundings. Just crossing with the ferry from Buitenkaag to Kaag Island is a unique experience. Along the route you will come across a water play equipment, a birdwatching wall and a watchtower.
Dutch Villages Route
Cycling around Kaag en Braassem is a real voyage of discovery through an authentic Dutch polder landscape via characteristic Dutch villages.
Between Leiden, Kaag & Braassem
This varied cycling route does not only lead you through the villages around Kaag & Braassem and Braassemermeer, but also through the historic inner city of Leiden.
Water Works Route
Through the ages, both Leimuiden and Rijnsaterwoude delivered battles against the water of the Hollandse Plassen (Dutch Lakes). This bicycle route will take you along several water works, the remains of this remarkable history.
The sloop network

Delicacies from the region
There are a lot of farmer shops to visit in Kaag & Braassem. As we are curious about them and where to find them, our editor Alice got on her bike herself. Together with her husband, she is in for a nice surprise. They cycled to Woubrugge, Hoogmade and Roelofarendsveen and discovered lots of delicacies from the region.

The Staande Mast Route (Fixed Mast Route) is a safe through-route for sailing and motor boats with an overall height of over six metres.
Polders and Lakes Pathway
No were else in the Netherlands you can find more water than in this area. The multiple days Polders and Lakes Pathway is a 135 kilometers long walk and will lead you through the beautiful polder landscape. The route will take you along extensive lakes with wavy reed border, well organized tree nurseries, stately mills and picturesque villages.

The walking route network is a walking network of 450 kilometers walking pleasure for young and old.
The Kaag Route
Bike along the natural banks of the Kagerplassen and Braassemermeer.
Mills and More Walking Route
The Mills and More walking route will take you alongside 10 mills, the beautiful polder landscape and various sights, sidewalk café’s and selling point where you can buy local produce in and around Kaag & Braassem. In the distance you’ll see five more mills, which makes it a total of fifteen mills.
Along historical places and object in Woubrugge and Hoogmade
This route is accompanied by a series of 20 information signs at the remarkable historical buildings, places and objects in Hoogmade and Woubrugge.

Breathtaking ride from Route.nl through the Bollenstreek. Starts in Roelofarendsveen.
Mills and Lakes Route
You can discover the rural area between the beautiful lakes Braassemermeer and the Kagerplassen within an hour. The route will take you along the picturesque villages of Roelofarendsveen, Rijpwetering, Nieuwe Wetering and Oude Wetering. you can start the bicycle route at any point of the cycle network.
Aderoute
A delightful walk of 9 km which leads you through three villages.
Braassem Route

Monuments Walking Route Kaag & Braassem
This walking route (which you can cycle too) is published as part of the Open Monuments Weekend 2021, but can be walked at any other time. This way you are able to visit the monuments on your own occasion.
Leimuiden - Woubrugge Lap
Within an hour and a half, you can cycle around the Braassemermeer and will pass the villages around it.
Laarzenpad (the Wellies Trail)
The free Laarzenpad starts from Bezinningscentrum de Stal. The path is signposted and runs through the polder on Kaag Island. The name Laarzenpad means “Wellies Trail” – it is not just a quaint name, it is good advice.

Tulip Route
A cruise filled with stories about the flourishing polder. The typically Dutch Veenderpolder and Lijkerpolder outside the dikes, a unique peat polder where hundreds of millions of tulips are scalded. Sail into this polder and immerse yourself in the interesting story of the tulip and its special relationship with this polder. The tulip symbolises everything that grows and thrives here.

The bicycle route ‘Mills and More’ will take you alongside no less than 20 mills and other places of interest in and around Kaag en Braassem.
Mills and More Sailing Route
The ‘Mills and More’ route, is a wonderful multiple day sailing route around the municipalities of Kaag en Braassem. Alphen aan den Rijn and Warmond, which will lead you along the most beautiful mills, remarkable sights and other interesting activities.
Mills Route Rijpwetering and Braassemermeer
A gorgeous route from starting point De Veense Bukker, where you can treat yourself to coffee and cake. Via Rijpwetering you’ll walk right through the polder along the mills and back to Roelofarendsveen where you continue your walk along the banks of the Braassemermeer.
